Walk Another Mile is a sole proprietorship. This means the proprietor named above is personally responsible for the obligations of the business, and your contract is with him trading under that name.
In these terms, "we", "us", "our" means Walk Another Mile. "You", "your", "guest" means the lead traveller named on the booking and every traveller in their party.
02How a Booking is Made
Enquiry → Quotation → Confirmation
- You send an enquiry via our website, WhatsApp, or email.
- We send back a written quotation with itinerary, inclusions, exclusions, total cost, and validity (typically 7 days).
- You confirm by signing the quotation and paying the deposit (see Section 03).
- We send a confirmation document with booking reference, hotel/transport vouchers, and the final itinerary.
What you confirm when you book
- The legal names of every traveller, exactly as printed on their passport/ID
- Each traveller's age, dietary requirements, and any health/mobility considerations
- You are at least 18 years old or, if you're booking on behalf of a minor, you are their legal guardian
- You have read these terms and the Privacy Policy
Lead traveller responsibility
The person who pays the deposit is the lead traveller. They are responsible for sharing this contract and our communications with the rest of the group, ensuring everyone has valid travel documents, and being our single point of contact.
03Pricing & Payments
What's included
Every quotation states exactly what is and is not included. As a rule, our prices include: hotels with breakfast, ground transport with driver, sightseeing as listed, an English-speaking guide where specified, all permit/entry fees in the itinerary, and 24×7 on-trip support.
What's typically NOT included
- Flights to and from India (unless explicitly added)
- Indian visa fees and travel insurance
- Meals other than breakfast (unless full-board specified)
- Personal expenses, gratuities for hotel/restaurant staff, room service
- Camera/video fees at monuments where charged separately
- Any service not specifically named in the itinerary
Deposit and balance
| Stage | Share | Due |
|---|---|---|
| Booking deposit — standard departures Payable to secure the reservation | 40% | On acceptance of the quotation |
| Booking deposit — festival-peak departures Payable to secure the reservation | 50% | On acceptance of the quotation |
| Full and final settlement Balance of the quoted total | Balance | 7 days before departure |
The reservation is held only upon receipt of the booking deposit. Travel documents and vouchers are released upon full and final settlement. Festival-peak departures take a 50% deposit rather than 40%, because festival-week hotels, boats, permits and artisan access are committed to suppliers and paid for many months before you travel. Where a departure is festival-peak, this is stated in your written quotation before you pay anything, and the list of festival-peak departures is in Section 04. The balance falls due 7 days before departure on every trip.
Payment methods
We accept payments via Razorpay (cards, UPI, net banking) and direct bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS within India, and SWIFT for international guests. All bank charges and currency conversion fees on the sender side are payable by you. The amount we receive in our account must equal the invoiced amount.
Currency
Prices are typically quoted in INR (₹). USD/EUR/GBP equivalents are shown for convenience at the prevailing rate on the day of quotation. The final invoice and refund (if applicable) are processed in INR unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Goods and Services Tax
Walk Another Mile is registered for GST under GSTIN 19AYIPB4003E1ZZ. Prices shown on this website and in our quotations are exclusive of GST. Goods and Services Tax is charged at 5% on tour operator services (SAC 998552, without input tax credit) and is shown as a separate line on your quotation and tax invoice, so the total you are asked to pay always includes it. Every booking is invoiced on a GST-compliant tax invoice carrying our GSTIN, your GSTIN where you have one, and the place of supply.
Price changes after confirmation
Once confirmed, your trip price is locked. We may revise it only for one of these three reasons, and only where the change is genuinely outside our control:
- a government tax, levy or tourist fee that is introduced or increased after your booking is confirmed;
- a currency movement of more than 8% affecting hotels or services we must settle in a foreign currency;
- a change you ask us to make to the itinerary.
We will tell you in writing, with a clear explanation and the calculation, as soon as we know.
No price increase will be made later than 20 days before your departure.
If the cost of those same items falls, you get the money back. Where a tax is reduced or the exchange rate moves in your favour before departure, we will reduce your price by the same amount, less any administrative costs we have actually incurred. You do not have to ask.
If an increase would raise your total trip price by more than 8%, you may reject it. In that case you can either accept a substitute trip of equivalent or higher quality if we can offer one, or cancel the booking and receive a full refund of everything you have paid, with no cancellation charge, paid within 14 days. We will tell you how long you have to decide, and it will never be less than 7 days.
These rights reflect the UK Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 and the EU Package Travel Directive (EU) 2015/2302, and we apply them to every traveller wherever you live.
04Cancellation Policy
This section is also published on its own at Cancellation & Refunds, and how and when we deliver your documents and your journey is set out at Service Delivery.
You may cancel a confirmed booking at any time before departure by writing to us. The charge depends on how much notice you give, because our own commitments to hotels, transport operators and guides harden as the date approaches. A booking is confirmed when you accept the quotation and we receive the booking deposit.
Cancellation charges are calculated on the total trip price, and the notice period runs to your first day of travel.
| When you cancel | Refund | You Pay |
|---|---|---|
| More than 45 days before departure | 70% | 30% cancellation charge |
| 45 days or fewer before departure | 0% | 100% (no refund) |
| After departure has begun / no-show | 0% | 100% (no refund) |
This makes comprehensive travel insurance essential, not optional. Buy a policy that covers cancellation and curtailment for the full trip value, at the time you confirm your booking rather than later. If you cancel for a reason your insurer covers — illness, bereavement, denied visa, family emergency — your claim is against your insurer, not against us. Please read Section 07 before you confirm.
Festival-peak departures follow a different schedule
Some departures are timed to a festival whose dates are fixed and whose hotels, artisan access and permits are committed to suppliers many months ahead. For these, the schedule below applies instead of the one above. Where a departure is festival-peak, this is stated in your written quotation before you pay anything.
Festival-peak departures currently include: Durga Puja (Kolkata), the Pushkar Camel Fair, the Hornbill Festival (Nagaland), the Jaisalmer Desert Festival, the Rann Utsav, Mysuru Dasara, Thrissur Pooram, the Sangai Festival (Manipur) and the Hemis Tsechu (Ladakh).
| When you cancel | Refund | You Pay |
|---|---|---|
| 91 days or more before departure | 80% | 20% cancellation charge |
| 90 to 61 days before departure | 50% | 50% cancellation charge |
| 60 to 31 days before departure | 25% | 75% cancellation charge |
| 30 days or fewer before departure | 0% | 100% (no refund) |
| After departure has begun / no-show | 0% | 100% (no refund) |
No refund is due for a no-show, for leaving a trip early, or for services included in the price that you choose not to use. Both schedules are calculated on the total trip price, and the notice period runs to your first day of travel.
Cancellation by us
If we cancel a confirmed trip for any reason within our control (very rare), you receive a 100% refund plus reimbursement of any non-refundable spending you can document (visa, insurance premium, pre-booked flights up to a sensible limit). We do not pay punitive damages or compensation for inconvenience.
How to cancel
Cancellation must be in writing — email support@walkanothermile.com with your booking reference. The cancellation takes effect on the date we receive your email (Mon-Sun, 9 am – 9 pm IST). Verbal cancellations over phone/WhatsApp must be followed by email to be valid.
05Refund Process & Timeline
Refunds are governed by the schedule in Section 04, and additionally arise in the circumstances set out in these terms: where we cancel a confirmed trip, or under the force majeure provisions in Section 06. This section describes how any such refund is handled.
How refunds work
- We acknowledge the cancellation by email within 48 hours.
- We calculate the refund due under the applicable section and document any non-recoverable supplier costs.
- You receive an itemised refund statement within 5 working days.
- Refund is processed to the original payment method only.
How long refunds take
- Razorpay card / UPI / netbanking — 7-10 working days from approval
- Bank transfer (domestic NEFT/RTGS) — 3-5 working days
- SWIFT / international wire — 7-14 working days, depending on your bank
The timeline starts from the day we send the refund — not the day you cancelled. Your bank's processing time is outside our control.
Bank charges on refunds
For international refunds, bank charges deducted by intermediary banks are not reimbursable. The refund you receive may be slightly less than the amount we send, depending on your bank's policy.
If part of your group cancels
If one or more travellers withdraw and the rest continue, the amounts paid for the withdrawing travellers are not refundable. The remaining travellers may also move to single supplements or a higher per-person rate, because pricing depends on group size and room configuration; we will quote any such change in writing before it applies.
06Force Majeure
"Force majeure" means events outside reasonable control of either party. This includes: war, terrorism, civil unrest, government travel bans, natural disasters (earthquake, flood, cyclone, landslide), epidemics or pandemics declared by WHO or Government of India, airline failure or strike, road closure by authorities, and similar circumstances.
If force majeure prevents the trip
If a force majeure event happens before your trip starts and we cannot run it safely:
- We will offer to reschedule the trip to a later date at no extra cost to you (suppliers permitting).
- If rescheduling is not possible, we refund what we can recover from suppliers. Non-refundable supplier costs (typically 10–30%) are not refundable.
- We will not be liable for your flight costs, insurance, visa, or other independent expenses.
If force majeure happens during the trip
Our priority is your safety. We will arrange the safest evacuation or rerouting at reasonable cost. We are not responsible for additional accommodation, flight changes, or activities missed due to the event. Travel insurance is critical for these scenarios.
07Travel Documents & Insurance
Visa, passport, permits
Each traveller is responsible for:
- A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity and 2 blank pages
- The correct Indian visa (e-Tourist Visa, Conference Visa, etc.) for your nationality and purpose
- Restricted-area permits where required (Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Andaman). We can help arrange these — typically 15-30 working days lead time.
We provide guidance based on your nationality and itinerary, but visa rules change without notice. The final responsibility for travel documents is yours. We do not refund trips missed due to visa rejection.
Travel insurance is mandatory
We do not sell insurance. We recommend buying through a reputable provider in your country of residence. Without proof of insurance, we may refuse to start your trip and the cancellation policy will apply.
Health and vaccinations
Consult your doctor or a travel clinic at least 6 weeks before your trip. India does not require any specific vaccination for most travellers, but Hepatitis A/B, Typhoid, and Tetanus boosters are commonly recommended. Yellow Fever certificate is required if arriving from certain countries.
Tell us before booking about any condition that may affect travel: heart conditions, diabetes, severe allergies, pregnancy, recent surgery, mobility issues. We will adapt the itinerary or recommend a different journey if needed.
08Conduct During the Trip
We curate calm, respectful, culturally-aware journeys. We expect every guest to behave with consideration toward fellow travellers, hosts, hotel staff, drivers, guides, local communities, and religious spaces.
You agree to:
- Follow local laws and customs at every destination
- Dress respectfully at temples, mosques, gurudwaras, churches, and traditional villages
- Photograph people only with their permission
- Not carry, consume, or distribute illegal substances at any point during the trip
- Not engage in harassment of any kind toward our staff or other guests
Our right to remove you from the trip
If your behaviour endangers other travellers, our staff, local hosts, or yourself — or seriously disrupts the trip for others — we reserve the right to remove you from the trip without refund and without liability for your return travel costs. We exercise this right only when necessary and document the reasons in writing.
09Photography & Filming
We are a specialist-planned brand. On most curated journeys, we capture photographs and short videos of the experience — pandals, landscapes, food, ambient moments — for use in our films, social media, website, and marketing.
You agree that:
- We may include incidental images of you (e.g. crowd shots, group meals, scenic backdrops) in our content
- You retain the right to ask us, in writing, to not be photographed/filmed personally — tell us at the start of the trip
- You retain the right to ask us to remove a specific image from our published content after the trip — we honour reasonable requests within 30 days
- We do not sell or license your image to third parties without your explicit consent
If you have booked our Film Your Trip service, a separate filming agreement applies.
10Our Liability
We carefully select every supplier — hotels, transport providers, guides, restaurants. We inspect properties personally where possible and re-vet annually. However, we are a booking and curation agent. The hotels, drivers, airlines, and other service providers are independent contractors.
Our maximum liability
Our maximum liability for any claim arising from the trip is limited to the total amount you paid us for the trip. We will not be liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, missed business opportunities, or third-party claims.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be set aside by contract, those rights continue to apply and nothing here reduces them.
We are NOT responsible for
- Matters entirely outside our control and unforeseeable, or caused by you or by a third party unconnected with delivering your trip. Where your booking is a package and the law of your country makes the organiser responsible for the performance of every travel service in it, we accept that responsibility — this list does not reduce it
- Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings — your travel insurance covers this
- Delays caused by weather, road conditions, strikes, technical faults, or government action
- Illness or injury except where caused by our direct negligence
- Activities you participate in outside the planned itinerary (e.g. independent excursions, water sports, paragliding)
Complaints during the trip
If something goes wrong during the trip, tell us immediately — your trip coordinator or WhatsApp our office (+91 74497 70077). We can often fix issues on the spot. Complaints raised only after the trip ends, when we cannot remediate, will not be considered for compensation.

12Disputes & Governing Law
How we resolve disagreements
- Talk to us first. Most disagreements come from a missed expectation we can clarify. Email support@walkanothermile.com with the subject "Concern: [booking reference]".
- Mediation. If we cannot resolve in 30 days, either party may propose an independent mediator. We bear our own costs; mediator fees are shared equally.
- Arbitration / courts. Unresolved disputes are referred to arbitration in Kolkata under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, or to the courts of Kolkata if arbitration fails.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Kolkata have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident outside India, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, nor of any right you have to bring proceedings in your local courts. Consumers in the European Economic Area may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
13Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes in our services, supplier policies, or law. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows the most recent revision. For booked trips, the version in force on your confirmation date applies.
For active enquiries, the latest version applies. If a change materially affects your rights, we will draw your attention to it before you confirm.
14Digital Products
These terms apply to downloadable guides we sell, such as Agomoni, the Walk Another Mile Durga Puja Annual. Sections 02 to 10 cover travel bookings and do not apply to digital products.
- Price and tax. The price shown (e.g. ₹149 for Agomoni Volume I) includes GST at the applicable rate (5% for e-books). Where a list price is shown struck through, the lower price is a time-limited offer. A tax invoice is emailed with your purchase.
- Delivery. After payment you can download the file immediately, and we email you a private link that works five times over 30 days. If it expires, request a new one on the product page or write to us.
- Copyright. All text, cartography, routes, photographs, illustrations and design are © Walk Another Mile, all rights reserved. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Buying a copy transfers no copyright or other intellectual-property right.
- Licence. Your purchase gives you one personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to read the file on your own devices and print pages for your own household. The licence is for the named buyer only.
- Prohibited. You may not copy, forward, share (including in messaging groups or channels), upload to any website, drive or file-sharing service, sell, resell, rent, lend, publish, extract, reproduce, translate, adapt, remove the licence marks from, or use to train any AI system, the file or any part of it — its text, maps, routes, photographs, illustrations or design.
- Personalised copies. Each copy is marked with the buyer's name, email and invoice number and carries a hidden identifier. By buying you agree to this marking, and that a copy found outside your personal use may be traced to your order.
- Breach. If a copy is shared or sold in breach of this licence, we will revoke the licence without refund, request removal from any platform hosting it, and may pursue civil and criminal remedies, including under Sections 51, 55 and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. You are responsible for any sharing of your copy or download link.
- Official source. We sell our digital publications only on walkanothermile.com. Copies offered anywhere else are unauthorised; please report them to hello@walkanothermile.com.
- Accuracy. Guides are checked on the date stated in them. Festival committees, authorities and transport operators can change themes, timings, routes and rules without notice; check locally before you travel. We are not liable for such changes or for events at venues.
- Refunds. See Refunds for digital products.
