Before You Book
Booking With Confidence
You are considering sending a significant sum to a company in India that you found on the internet. That deserves straight answers, not reassurance. Here is exactly how it works.
Summarised from our full booking terms, last updated 6 August 2026. Where this page and the terms differ, the terms govern.
Who you are actually contracting with
Walk Another Mile is a sole proprietorship registered in Kolkata, India. Your contract is with Soumik Basu Choudhury, trading under that name, who is personally responsible for the obligations of the business.

- Trade licence: Certificate of Enlistment No. 0917P76626491979, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Ward 25
- Registered office: Block B, Garage No. 3D, AS-52 Asha Garden, Samarpally, Krishnapur, Rajarhat Gopalpur, Kolkata 700102, West Bengal, India
We are a small business, not a large agency, and we would rather you know that up front. Full contact details are here.
How you pay
Nothing is due until you have a written quotation in hand with the itinerary, inclusions, exclusions and total cost set out. Quotations are typically valid for 7 days.
- Booking deposit — 40%, due on acceptance of the quotation. Your reservation is only held once this is received.
- Balance — 60%, due 7 days before departure. Vouchers and travel documents are released on full settlement.
Methods: Razorpay (cards, UPI, net banking) and direct bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS within India, and SWIFT for international guests. Sender-side bank charges and currency conversion fees are yours; the amount reaching our account must equal the invoice.
Currency: we quote in Indian Rupees (₹), with USD, EUR and GBP equivalents shown at the rate on the day of quotation. Final invoicing and any refund are processed in INR unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We never ask for card details by email or WhatsApp. Payment links come from Razorpay only. If you receive a request that looks like it came from us but does not go through those, do not pay it — contact us first.
Once confirmed, your price is locked
After confirmation we may revise the price only for three narrowly defined reasons genuinely outside our control: a new or increased government tax or tourist fee; a currency movement above 8% on services we settle in foreign currency; or a change you ask us to make.
- No increase will ever be made later than 20 days before departure.
- If costs fall, you get the difference back automatically — you do not have to ask.
- If an increase would raise your total by more than 8%, you may reject it and cancel with a full refund and no cancellation charge, paid within 14 days.
These rights mirror the UK Package Travel Regulations 2018 and the EU Package Travel Directive 2015/2302, and we apply them to every traveller wherever you live — including travellers from countries where we are not legally required to.
If you need to cancel
We would rather show you the real numbers now than have you discover them later. Charges are calculated on the total trip price, and notice runs to your first day of travel.
Standard departures
- More than 45 days before departure — 70% refunded (30% charge)
- 45 days or fewer — no refund
Festival-peak departures — Durga Puja, Pushkar Camel Fair, Hornbill, Jaisalmer Desert Festival, Rann Utsav, Mysuru Dasara, Thrissur Pooram, Sangai and Hemis Tsechu. These are always identified as festival-peak in your quotation before you pay anything.
- 91 days or more — 80% refunded
- 90 to 61 days — 50% refunded
- 60 to 31 days — 25% refunded
- 30 days or fewer — no refund
Why the charge rises: peak rooms in Kolkata, Pushkar and Kohima are held 9–12 months ahead against non-refundable supplier deposits, and pandal and artisan access is arranged with named partners far in advance. A cancelled place on a fixed festival date cannot be resold. The early-band charge reflects money already committed, not a penalty.
Free cancellation in extraordinary circumstances. If war, serious civil unrest, natural disaster, a declared epidemic or an official advisory against travel affects your destination, you may cancel before departure for a full refund with no charge at all, regardless of the schedules above. Refunds under this clause are paid within 14 days.
Why travel insurance is not optional
Read the cancellation bands above and the reason becomes obvious: inside those windows, your protection comes from your insurer, not from us. Buy a policy when you confirm your booking, not later — cover for cancellation usually only applies to events arising after the policy starts.
Make sure it covers cancellation and curtailment for the full trip value, medical treatment and evacuation, and your specific activities. If you cancel for a reason your insurer covers — illness, bereavement, a denied visa, a family emergency — your claim is against them. We will supply whatever documentation your insurer needs.
What happens once you are in India
- Airport arrival: you are met inside the terminal by a named representative holding a board with your name. Their name and mobile number are in your joining pack before you fly.
- Support while travelling: 24×7 on-trip support is included in every quotation, with a named trip coordinator and an emergency number monitored around the clock for the duration of your journey.
- Transport: private vehicle with driver throughout, as specified in your itinerary — not shared coaches unless a tour explicitly says so.
- If your flight changes: tell us as early as you can and we will re-sequence transfers and hotel nights. Supplier charges may apply, and we will show them to you before anything is committed.
- If something goes wrong: call the emergency number first. Most problems are solved the same day because our suppliers are people we work with repeatedly, not a booking platform.
What is and is not included
Typically included: hotels with breakfast, private ground transport with driver, sightseeing as listed, English-speaking guide where specified, permit and entry fees named in the itinerary, and 24×7 support.
Typically not included: international flights, Indian visa fees, travel insurance, meals beyond breakfast unless stated, personal expenses and gratuities, camera fees at monuments, and anything not named in the itinerary.
Every quotation states its own inclusions and exclusions explicitly. If something matters to you and you cannot find it, ask before you pay.
Children, solo travellers and boarding
Children under 3 travel free, with no seat and no ticket of their own. Children from 3 to 11 pay 75% of the adult price on a scheduled seat, and count as a full traveller on a private journey — the vehicle, the hotel room and the entry tickets do not get cheaper. From 12 the full price applies. Car seats and booster seats can be arranged if you ask when booking.
Travelling alone. On a day tour you simply buy one seat. On a scheduled departure with a night away we do not sell single rooms: you either share, or take the journey privately, where the one-traveller price already carries the room. We would rather say that plainly than quote a single supplement and then fail to find you a room in season.
Departures. We do not publish a fixed departure calendar. Tell us your dates and we confirm the departure against them, usually the same day. A scheduled departure runs with a minimum of six travellers; if one does not reach that number you are told at least 48 hours ahead and either moved to another date or refunded in full.
Where you board. Scheduled departures from Kolkata board at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, and we collect from hotels in Salt Lake and New Town at no extra cost — give us the hotel name when you book. Private journeys collect from your door anywhere in the city.
Festival departures. Journeys over Diwali, Deepotsav and Dev Deepawali take a 50% deposit rather than 40%, because the hotels and boats on those dates are paid for by us months before you travel. Cancellation terms are unchanged.
Quick answers
How much do I pay up front?
A 40% deposit on accepting your quotation. The 60% balance is due 7 days before departure. Nothing is due before you have a written quotation.
Is my money protected if I have to cancel?
Partly, and it depends on notice. Standard departures refund 70% if you cancel more than 45 days out, nothing inside 45 days. Festival departures refund 80% at 91+ days, 50% at 90–61 days, 25% at 60–31 days, nothing inside 30 days. Beyond those windows your protection comes from travel insurance, which is why we treat it as essential.
Can the price go up after I book?
Only for a new government tax, a currency movement above 8%, or a change you request — and never within 20 days of departure. If costs fall you get the difference back automatically. If an increase exceeds 8% of your total you can cancel with a full refund and no charge.
Who meets me at the airport?
A named representative inside the terminal holding a board with your name. Their name and mobile number are in your joining pack before you fly.
What if something goes wrong during the trip?
Every quotation includes 24×7 on-trip support with a named trip coordinator and an emergency number monitored around the clock for the duration of your journey.
How do I know you are a real company?
We are registered in Kolkata under Udyam Registration Number UDYAM-WB-14-0279320, which you can verify on the Government of India Udyam portal. We are registered for GST under GSTIN 19AYIPB4003E1ZZ, and hold Certificate of Enlistment No. 0917P76626491979 from Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.
Still have a question?
Ask it before you commit to anything. We would rather over-explain now than have a surprise during your trip.
